My Aunt in the UK, who at that time I'd never met, used to write to my Dad on a regular basis & they both used aerogrammes for their correspondence. My sister and I used to get so excited when one of those thin blue letters arrived, and after my parents had read it, we'd be allowed to read it as well. It was our only connection with our only aunt on either side of the family. I've only met her one, about 15 years ago when she came to Australia, and have kept up a semi-regular correspondence with her since then.
